W.I.P. Riverview V2

Recommended Posts

So as many will have noticed Riverview is the old Newbie farm. The reason behind the name change was people saying they thought the name hinted at the map been for new players to the game so didn't give it a second look. After watching all the video's i can find on youtube for reviews on this map i have began replacing the old style buildings such as the dealers, farm shop, port etc with more modern ones. In keeping with keep the file size as small as possible i have also used a few default buildings to help in this area.

Bellow is the current of these sell buildings and the road texture also updated to use all four textures for asphalt.

Been playing (should have been testing) v2 for a week  now and it's a great improvement. I'm about to record episode 3 of Family Farm which will now be using v2. This episode is due for release Monday the 7th Jan. I will be looking at the work thus far on v2.

Pity I have no space in my schedule for another series. You will just have to watch me struggle in my own style @Cavalier Roy😉

I figured you would enjoy the spirit of the challenges difficulty.  Affording all of the animal zones and that number of animals while at the same time clawing out of 500K debt will be rather interesting with the prices on hard on riverview.  I felt somewhat bad that I had to give folks a wooded area with fairly easy trees since i realized you didnt give us any easy trees on the areas around the fields.  Least I picked a small tree area and one a bit of a drive to the saw mill.

Oh yeah i love to watch challenges done where its not made to be easy adds to the fun of playing and the headache of trying to make your plan as a participant that much more interesting. You see Newbie Farm aka Riverview was built in FS11 not just because i couldn't find a map i liked and worked the way i wanted it to but because most of the maps at that time was focusing on making money fast which killed the life span of those said maps and i wanted a map that months later i would still be trying to buy that big fancy tractor or combine on.  I'm not one for shifting between maps, i find a group of maps i like and i play within that group.

However the way Giants have the animals now, how they take so much to feed is going to expand the life span of any map as well as starting your farm any where. Maps needed this because the life span was getting lower and lower all the time and so much work goes into maps that its like they never get the full justification so i'm looking forward to watching all the various challenges yourself and others do on the various maps throughout the course of FS19 and admire the work those mappers have done.

Damn this became a rant of some kind didn't it. Hmmm, I like how the challenge has been set out, it will make it very hard as the player has so much to focus on it would be easy to let the amount of goals overcome yourself and full way behind however the various ways people and groups get started will be very interesting to watch. I looked at it the forestry area given was to try and give people the choice of farming, forestry or animals which way do you want to start and although forestry might make money fast under normal situations the forestry area's on this map can be some what interesting and make for a challenge in themselves.

I've now done a few hours on v2 now and I love the new buildings. The Port looks amazing now. Also the new bridge to the town means I have more chance of getting to the fuel station without crashing, well not as often I used too😉

Still have to remember where everything is and more important how to get there😁

I see a very long series with Family Farm even if, for the story I have in mind, I have started with good(ish) equipment and almost all the building I need.

One mod I've mentioned a few times for which i have to thank @FarmerKleinfor finding it and doing a review on it is Place anywhere. This allows far better placement of buildings.

So i had a play around with the forestry foliage texture and began paining the forestry area's. I am seriously not liking it from a PDA point of view it looks ugly and from a distance point of view it looks ok but not a big fan. Here are some screen shots of this in action and personally i would rather Giants add the forestry leaves as an additional foliage layer as a pose to texture layer.

Enjoying Riverview V1 and looking forward to V2 Roy.....   I did make a point of always watching Reefy playing on Newbie Farm but never got a chance to play it myself. Good thing about that is that Riverview is fresh for me as a map....Cheers
